[Anurag Mallick] o make sure the team follows the norm, I've to act as the changing agent. Therefore, I switch on my webcam while presenting, try to engage with the team on a lighter note for the first couple of minutes in the daily SU and gradually, I've noticed the team members switch on their camera as well, especially when they're addressing the tasks assigned to their name.

Walk the road first that you want others to follow.
Setting the right example is always much more effective than just telling/asking/requesting.

[Ganesh Sriram Garimella] SAFe clearly suggested that leaders should lead by example. It also suggested that face to face communication is the best form of communication that keeps people engaged throughout. In first place, I as an SM will have video on and encourage the team members too to turn their videos on. We always have that right set of audience, who learn quickly and adapt to dynamics. For the rest of the folks I will continue to help with the rationale behind the same and give some time for them to accept and adjust. For those who require additional push, I will act as a catalyst in making them understand how we lose on benifits in terms of participation and also help them realize that their efforts might get unnoticed at times or might create an impression that they are not contributing to team's success.

[Sabari Dey] For daily scrum, I want to ensure all of us on camera. However, at times poor connectivity could be a concern but not on regular basis. I initiate with some light discussion so that all our membrs feel comfortable, energetic to participate. As a scrum master, we should encourage and educate team why it’s important to make team bonding stonger. If required, we can discuss with members are off the camera most of the time and come up with work agreement.
For Retros, we do few fun activities, recognistions where all members participate with full enthusiasms and out their camera on, what I have observed so far in my team.

[Heena Kumari] I always found this as an hindrance As it stops us to create a connect with the person,, so i started keeping something extra always in meetings.

I used to start the meeting with very light and interactive topics so that everyone is comfortable.. And I always add some extra interactive informational and useful knowledge sharing with the team, where people feel like they are knowing and learning something extra than their daily office chores but still important for their personal and professional growth.

I used to tell them techniques for tips on personality development, professional growth, what extra is demanded in market, some corporate yoga techniques to help them become more positive and proactive, some NLP techniques, some influential techniques and the idea goes on.

When people feel comfortable and feel they are having something beautiful and extra to know/learn, they themselves become comfortable and easy with the cameras.

With all this, i simultaneously coach them with the benefits and pros cons of discussions with their cameras ON.
